Here We Go!

So they say a journey of a million miles starts with a single step. We've officially begun on our 2nd house renovation. This is our new home as it currently stands. It will look like this for about another week and then the demolition begins. When it's all said and done, we'll be adding around 400 sq. ft. to the first floor, adding a second floor as well as a detached car port with storage.

So far, we've had some tree work done and my family helped me in the yard big time today. I owe them big time. (Matt was on the golf course).

Anyway, here are the pictures of what we're starting with.

1.) This is a view from the back yard showing the back of the house. Soon we'll be digging footings to add 12' on to the width of the back of the house. You can see temporary electrical pole is up. Looking at this picture, there used to be a large oak tree on the back left corner.
2.) Here's what remains of tree mentioned above.

3.) Here's a view from the deck into the back yard. On the left where there is an aluminum shed, we're going to build a 2 car carport with storage in the back and extend the drive way to it. That's my Nonni (grandmother) in the picture - slaving away!

4.) Here's a view of the den. Our contractor has moved appliances and cabinets into here, but it's not the kitchen. On the right beyond the fridge is the current front door.

5.) This is a view if my back is to the picture above. It shows what's left of the kitchen. The door shown goes into the back yard.

6.) This is the only bathroom in the house for now. We're planning on having more than one bathroom in the new place. It's nice to have running water for the time being!

7.) Here's a view of the front yard. Later this week, we'll be moving some of these huge bushes to make room for dumpsters.

8.) Here's a shot of the house from the street. The large tree in the front has had the lower branches removed to make room for the second floor.
