Raising a Roof - Weeks 7 & 8

Well, the last couple of weeks have been pretty productive. I wish they were even a little more productive (of course). Since the last update, the floor for the 2nd floor was put in, all walls on the 2nd floor were framed, trusses for the roof were lifted on.

As the pictures show, the weather is still a thorn in our side, but hopefully we'll have a "real" roof soon so the weather will matter less.

Anyway, here are a few pics of what has happened.

1.) This is the view from the hall at the top of the stairs, note the 1" of standing water on the floor... that's one of those things that makes me a little CRAZY!

2.) Here's the view from the top of the stairs down the steps through the location of the future front door.

3.) Here's a view from the outside. All it needs now is, a roof (and siding, insulation, floors, drywall... ) So the to do list is still long, but I have NOT given up on being in by Christmas!!

4.) And of course the roof trusses. By the end of this week, we're hoping that there are shingles on there.

Up, Up and Away - Weeks 5 & 6

So after major weather woes the past couple of weeks, we've dried out until now. We had an issue getting an inspection because the inspector was on vacation. He did end up coming out and so we were able to get going!

Additionally, we've been meeting with cabinet folks to get a grasp on what we want and what we can afford.

Here's the latest...

1.) This is the future master bedroomastast
2.) This is the view from the front door. To the left is where the stairs will be. The dining room, kitchen, and family rooms are to the right. The master suite is to the far left.

3.) From dining room, through kitchen to family room.

4.) Dining room.

5.) View from outside.

This week, the original goal was to have the trusses up my the end of the week. That will be possible if we can have decent weather. It's not looking great. Next, they'll have to put the second floor subfloor down, add the stairs, build the second floor and then add the roof trusses. Time will tell! I know we need the rain in Charlotte, but would be fine without it on Iverson Way!!
